Dr. Magdelena Tang
Choir Conductor
on leave in the 2025-2026 season*
Magdelena Ho-yan Tang is a teacher, researcher and choral conductor based in Toronto. Currently, she is a teaching artist for choirs at Sistema Toronto, and the assistant conductor at Bach Children’s Chorus. As a choral conductor, she has previously worked with children’s choirs such as Boston Children Chorus and Singapore International School (Hong Kong). A graduate of Butler University and Boston University, she studied and sang under the baton of Henry Leck, Eric Stark, Ann Howard Jones, Scott Allen Jarret and André de Quadro. Besides actively teaching in Hong Kong, her music studies experience gives her opportunities to perform and workshop in France, Berlin, London, Taipei, Brazil and the United States. In 2022, she graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Hong Kong. Her dissertation, “The Singing Public in Hong Kong: Choral Music as Social Life'' emphasizes the corporeal aspects of choral music in relation to the making of social life, including notions of identity, performative aspects of collective singing, and public space.


Anson Wong
Ad Interim Choir Conductor
Anson Wong holds a Master of Teaching from University of Toronto's OISE program and a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier. As a Markham Community Band member and elementary choir conductor. Anson fosters critical thinking, student curiosity, and creative risk-taking to inspire meaningful musical growth and exploration.

Markham Wesley Children, Youth and Family Hub (CYF Hub) is located under Markham Wesley Centre (MWC) at 22 Esna Park Drive, with a space of 15,000 sq. ft. Their mission is to empower children, youth, and their families to develop resilience and achieve holistic wellness through culturally relevant, evidence-informed, and person-centred programs and services, while sharing Jesus’ love.

PTPA is a partner of Markham Wesley Centre. It aims to serve the community users with modern entertainment elements, including a large and sophisticated electronic screen system, excellent acoustics and 771 theatre-grade seats. We are pleased to offer a variety of events like dance recitals, school productions, school graduations, musicals, and so much more. This facility will also contribute to the MWC’s ability to serve its mission.
