Our Values
Growth – We care about the singers and their holistic development, and believe that music is one of the important means to promote holistic growth.
Musical Integrity – We strive to inspire our singers to adhere to artistic values, staying true to themselves and musicianship through intentional practice and performance.
Creativity – We seek to challenge the singers’ Musical Selves and support them to explore their new identities, new selves, new voices and new ways to present choral music.
Collaboration – We work hard to build a safe, connected, collaborative environment and relationships to promote the singers’ confidence, test their abilities and leadership, and venture into new territories.
Diversity – Markham and the York Region is very diverse and we strive to be inclusive by embracing the cultural and musical diversities of our collective community and empowering our singers with cultural literacies.
Statement of Equal Access to Music Education
We strive towards becoming an equitable community and fostering an environment where children can joyfully learn and be challenged to music. However, the Markham Children’s Choir does not always have the staff training and infrastructure to deliver quality experiences for children requiring accommodations out of the scope of our typical programming. If your child has any unique learning, behavioural, emotional or accessibility needs, please contact our staff before your assessment.
